Rights & Agreements

First serial rights: Upon acceptance, Tunings retains the right to be the first publisher of your work (in print and digital form). All rights revert to the author upon publication.

Credit upon reprint: If your work is republished elsewhere after appearing in Tunings, we ask that you credit Tunings as the original publisher.

Non-exclusive archival rights: We may archive your work indefinitely in both print and online editions of the journal, and in any future compilations or anthologies, with proper credit.

Social media excerpts: With your permission, we may share short excerpts, representative images, or clips of your accepted work on our website or social media platforms for promotional purposes, always with proper credit and attribution.

Multimedia submissions: For music, film, or other interdisciplinary works, you retain full copyright. You grant Tunings a non-exclusive license to publish, embed, or stream your work for the purposes of the issue in which it appears.

International scope: We welcome and publish artists globally. All contributors are responsible for ensuring that the rights to their submitted work (especially music/film with collaborators) are their own to share.

A note on payment: As of now, we are still a very small and early operation without major grant funding or fiscal sponsorship. This is a labor of love where editorial, layout, design time, and printing costs come from our pockets directly with no promise of return. However, we hope that in the future we can make this sustainable to offer at least a token payment to contributors. Even if we cannot now, this is our goal. We will keep working towards it.

We ask that you do not send revisions after submitting. If selected, you will be able to make light edits before publication (as long as it does not change the fundamental nature of your work).
