Tunings
A Journal of Visions
Submissions are currently open for Volume One
Deadline: November 15th, 2025
Tunings is a multilingual, limited-edition print and digital journal of interdisciplinary art. We publish literature in all forms — poetry, prose, essay, dreams, philosophies, memories, conversations — as well as sound, music, visual art, photography, short film/video, and hybrid works.
As an extension of Moon Below the Sun, we’re drawn to work that explores impossible questions, reveals the vulnerability and relationships of the human condition, and unravels the veils between beauty, spirituality, nature, and realms of not-knowing. We’re especially inspired by analog processes, acoustic and site-specific work, physical movement / connection / tension, microtonality, durational unfolding, and pieces shaped by land, time, and the body.
Send us your devotional offerings, your insights, your unsolvable contradictions, your meditations by the sea or violin drones during summer storms in Pankisi. We welcome work that invites presence and opens space to connect deeper with one another.

Guidelines
- Who May Submit?
We welcome submissions from anywhere in the world, in any language. All work must be previously unpublished. If you’re submitting in a language other than English, please include a rough English translation (in addition to the original) for review.
We are especially interested in working with artists in the regions where we are. That is, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, Iran, Central Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Southeastern Europe. Artists in diaspora and those from everywhere else in the world are still more than welcome and encouraged to apply.
- What to send:
- • Poetry (1–5 poems up to 10 pages)
- • Prose (up to 5,000 words)
- • Visual art / Photography (up to 10 images, JPEG preferred; if over 25MB, send via Dropbox or WeTransfer)
-
• Sound (up to 15 minutes total, WAV or FLAC only; if over 25MB, send via Dropbox or WeTransfer, or private streaming link)
Please note: We do not accept electronic or digitally-produced music. Our focus is on acoustic, site-specific, or physically-performed sound. If your project includes digital processing but is rooted in organic instrumentation, feel free to reach out with questions. - • Film / Video (up to 15 minutes total via private streaming link only)
- • Hybrid / Interdisciplinary Works (submit as one entry with a brief note about your vision)
- • Essentials: Include a short bio (1–3 sentences), your name, location, Instagram/website (if any), and an optional note or letter that includes anything you'd like us to keep in mind when reviewing your work. This can be super informal. We’re artists too :)
- • Feel free to include additional materials like drafts, voice memos (if you want to read your work via audio as well, you can send this too), casual photos, etc. These are optional but encouraged to help us connect with your process.
- Other Notes:
- • Submissions are free (there is no fee). But please ensure your submission fits what we are looking for.
- • We do not accept AI-generated original work. If your translation is AI-generated, we ask that you let us know when submitting.
- • Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Just let us know immediately if it’s accepted elsewhere.
- • We don't accept revisions after submission. However, if accepted, you will be able to make edits before publication.
- • We will do our best to reply as soon as possible, but it may take us up to two months. Please don’t follow up on your submission. We’ll reach out to you.
- • Submitting opts you into our occasional newsletter (though you can unsubscribe anytime).
- Rights:
-
• If accepted, we retain first serial and archival rights (print + digital), with all rights reverting back to you after publication. This just means we have the right to publish your work first. After publication, you are free to do what you wish with your work.
• We may also share short excerpts or media clips on social media with your permission.
• Multimedia artists retain full copyright.
- A Note on Payment:
- Contributors are offered a free digital copy as well as a physical copy on request. We’re still a small, early-stage press, and at this time, we’re unable to offer contributor payment beyond a copy. This project is a labor of love — all editorial, design, and printing work is from our devotion to the existence of these publications. Even with that said, it’s deeply important to us that artists are honored materially as well as emotionally. While we can’t offer compensation now, we’re actively working toward a future where that’s possible — even if only in modest form. Thank you for trusting us with your work.
